How to deal with pain?

The pain which you feel cannot be cured by grieving over it; it can only be cured by knowing the reason behind this calamity. Once you know the reason behind your calamity, I am sure your pain will fade away and you will find peace within difficulty. In shaa Allah.

Know the reason behind your Calamity.

At the time of Hardship, It’s man’s nature to be impatient but when he [true believer] knows the reason behind the hardship. He begins to display patience. Patience is the best remedy for every trouble, if you had patience you would not be in trouble. Because patience helps us to stay positive in difficult situation and makes our life more easy and beautiful. If you want to make your life beautiful, learn to be patient. Remember! if you don't learn how to be patient, the pain will continue.

For this, Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said; ...Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience." [Sahih al-Bukhari 1469]

What is the reason behind the Calamity ?

The answer is very simple and easy, Test. A test from Allah SWT, because the life of this world nothing but a Test.

Why does Allah test us? Test to check the quality of the faith and patience in you. In this test if you pass you will win the pleasure of Allah and achieve the highest rank in Jannah. Mere ustad kehte theh ke khush haal zindagi ke sirf 3 usool hain.

1) Apne zindagi ke maqsad ko Janlena.

2) Apne oper aane wali musibat ki wajah ko samajlena.

3) Is musibat pe, sabar karne per, akhirat mein Allah swt ki taraf se jo umdah reward [paradise] milne wali hai us per pakka yaqeen rakha.

To Allah SWT us insaan ko dunya ke har ranj o gham se azaad kardete hain.

Aur Jo Insaan

2) Apne oper aane wali musibat ke wajah ko samaj Na saka.

3) Aur agar Akhirat per bhi iska Iman kamzoor raha.

To wo insaan dunya ki choti si choti takleef ko bhi bardasht kar nahi pata.

Kyunke ye naam ka musalman hai. Naam ka musalman hoon main, Isliye pareshan hoon main.

Reason Behind Hardship

There are two reasons behind hardship :

1] Punishment for wrong doing.

2] A Decree of Allah.

Punishment or Warning

Punishment and a warning for wrong doers from Allah so that he may make repentance and come back to the right path, because pain will change the people.

Allah swt said in the Quran : Whatever misfortune happens to you , is because of the things your hands have wrought , and for many (A sin) he grants forgiveness. (Quran 42 : 30)

Calamities have appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of the people have earned, so that He (Allah) makes them taste some of what they did, in order that they may return (to the right way). (Qur’an 30 : 41)

Surely, Allah does not wrong people at all, but the people do wrong their own selves. [Quran 10 : 44]

...And God will not punish them while they seek forgiveness. [Quran 8:33]

Hardship is a decree of Allah.

Hardships are created and given by Allah SWT by decree. By this [decree/hardship] will Allah SWT test you. Test to check the quality of the faith and patience in you. In this test if you pass you will win the pleasure of Allah and achieve the highest rank in Jannah. If you fail, you are the big loser; you will lose paradise as well as pleasure of Allah SWT. Be careful about the test of Allah SWT and don't lose this opportunity to get closer to Allah SWT and achieve the highest rank in paradise.

O my Allah! If this hardship is a decree from you, I will cheerfully accept it. And please help me to pass in this test.

Whatever hardships you face on earth and in your souls were written in the Book before the creation of the souls… [Quran 57 : 22]

...Allah created every soul, so he wrote its life, its provision, and its afflictions.'"... [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2143]

Say, “Nothing will ever befall us except what Allah has destined for us. He is our Protector.” So in Allah let the believers put their trust. (Qur'an 9 : 51)

Thinking too much about the problem and put yourself in depression means your faith in fate is weak; that’s why you are suffering. If your faith on fate is strong, you will not bother about the problem; you just understand that, this is the decree from Allah SWT. Through this decree (problem) Allah SWT test us.

Indeed, if you were to know ˹your fate˺ with certainty, ˹you would have acted differently˺. [Quran 102:5]

No one will be afflicted with any hardship without it being the will of God. The hearts of whoever believed in God will receive guidance… [Quran 64 : 11]

Trials that come in our life are not to destroy us; but it [trial] present an opportunity to show our true faith.

...according to God's will, in order to give believers a chance to prove their faith, (Quran 3 : 166)

So be patient with your Lord’s decree, for you are truly under Our ˹watchful˺ Eyes… (Quran 52:48)

We are continuously tested either through blessings, to see how thankful we are or through trials, to see how patient we are.

Oh Allah! If this Hardship is a test for me, let me pass in it.

How do you know if a hardship is a trial or a punishment?

How do you know if a hardship is a trial or a punishment?. Sheikh salih al-fawzan replied: “He looks to himself and holds himself to account. If he has sins and evil deeds, then it is a punishment, and a warning from Allah so that he may make repentance. And if it is the case that he does not have any sins, although there is nobody who is free from sins except if Allah wills. However, if it is decreed that he has no sin, then it may be an elevation of his rank.

It is possible that it is written for a person that he has a rank in Paradise that he cannot attain by way of his actions alone. So Allah trials him with calamities, then he gives him the ability to endure that. So that Allah may by way of them elevate his station with Himself (subhanahu wa ta’ala).

Narrated Muhammad ibn Khalid as-Sulami: on his father's authority said his grandfather reported: He was a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: When Allah has previously decreed for a servant a rank which he has not attained by his action, He afflicts him in his body, or his property or his children. Abu Dawud said: Ibn Nufail added in his version: "He then enables him to endure that." The agreed version goes: "So that He may bring him to the rank previously decreed from him by Allah." [Sunan Abi Dawud 3090]

Perhaps Allah SWT has written a high position in paradise in my destiny; that’s why Allah SWT is testing me with this hardship. Dear Trial, If you weren't, probably I would never have reached this place in Heaven. Thank you Allah, for the trials that make me closer to you and help me to achieve the highest rank in Jannah.

'Anas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "When Allah wants good for a slave, He puts him in action." It was said: "How does he put him in action O Messenger Of Allah?" He said: "By making him meet up with the righteous deeds before death." [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2142]

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.” [Sunan Ibn Majah 4031]
