Qur’anic verses that soothe a sad heart.

How to deal with pain?

The pain which you feel cannot be cured by grieving over it; it can only be cured by knowing the reason behind this calamity. Once you know the reason behind your calamity, I am sure your pain will fade away and you will find peace within difficulty. In shaa Allah.

Know the reason behind your Calamity.

At the time of Hardship, It’s man’s nature to be impatient but when he [true believer] knows the reason behind the hardship. He begins to display patience. Patience is the best remedy for every trouble, if you had patience you would not be in trouble. Because patience helps us to stay positive in difficult situation and makes our life more easy and beautiful. If you want to make your life beautiful, learn to be patient. Remember! if you don't learn how to be patient, the pain will continue.

For this, Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said; ...Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience." [Sahih al-Bukhari 1469]

What is the reason behind the Calamity ?

The answer is very simple and easy, Test. A test from Allah SWT, because the life of this world nothing but a Test.

Why does Allah test us? Test to check the quality of the faith and patience in you. In this test if you pass you will win the pleasure of Allah and achieve the highest rank in Jannah. If you fail, you are the big loser; you will lose paradise as well as pleasure of Allah SWT. Be careful about the test of Allah SWT and don't lose this opportunity to get closer to Allah SWT.

Kyunke ye naam ka musalman hai. Naam ka musalman hoon main, Isliye pareshan hoon main.

Allah SWT tests us with loss

Allah tests you by giving you wealth and by taking your wealth back in the form of loss. And please don't feel sad if you face any loss, but try to understand the reason behind this loss. Loss is created and given by Allah SWT by decree. By this [decree/loss] will Allah SWT test you.

Allah SWT said in the Quran : Say, “Nothing will ever befall us except what Allah has destined for us... (Qur'an 9 : 51)

You (believers) will certainly be tested by the loss of your property and lives... (Qur'an 3 : 186)

Just believe, loss not met you by accident, Allah has planned it to test your patience.

...He did all of this in order to test the believers... [Quran 8 : 17]

Why does Allah SWT test us ?

Test to check the quality of the faith and patience in you. In this test if you pass you will win the pleasure of Allah and achieve the highest rank in paradise. If you fail, you are the big loser; you will lose paradise as well as pleasure of Allah SWT. Be careful about the test of Allah SWT and don't lose this opportunity to get closer to Allah and achieve the highest level in paradise.

Oh Allah! If this LOSS is a test for me, Let me pass in it.

Don’t feel sad for your loss; it’s fate.

Lack of faith in fate lead us to depression. We spend hopeless day and sleepless nights, feeling sad about our problems, but we forget that Allah is the controller of all affairs.

Thinking too much about the loss and put yourself in depression means your faith in fate is weak; that’s why you are suffering. If your faith on fate is strong, you will not bother about the loss; you just understand that, this is the decree from Allah SWT. Through this decree (loss) Allah SWT test us.

Allah said in the Quran : Indeed, if you were to know ˹your fate˺ with certainty, ˹you would have acted differently˺. [Quran 102:5]

If you refuse to believe in fate, your destination is Hell.

Abu Hurairah said: "Idolaters from the Quraish came to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) quarreling about Al-Qadar. So this Ayah was revealed: "The day they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell." Verily we have created all things with Qadar. [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2157]

If you face any loss, don't say...

Whatever you want to do in life, begin with optimistic thoughts. But, if occurs any loss, don't depressed. Rather, understand that this loss is already written in my fate. Allah is my creator and Allah has done what He willed. We should be satisfied with Allah's decision.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ...If anything befalls you, do not say, "if only I had done such and such" rather say "Qaddara Allahu wa ma sha'a fa'ala (Allah has decreed and whatever he wills, He does)." For (saying) 'If' opens (the door) to the deeds of Satan.'" [Sunan Ibn Majah 79]

We plan many things, but in the end, life follows the script written by Allah. Hamare halath hamare iqtiyar mein nahi hain, yaqeen rakhen jis ke iqtiyar mein hai wo “Ala kulli shayin qadeer hai” [Indeed, Allah has power over all things].

You can't control over your fate. This loss is already written in your fate, that's why it happened. Otherwise, it would never happen. So please my brothers and sisters in Islam, live your life with peace. Don't fill your mind with worry and anxiety.

Alhamdulillah, when I read this above hadith, I find peace within the difficulties.

Allah SWT said in the Quran : Say, “Nothing will ever befall us except what Allah has destined for us. He is our Protector.” So in Allah let the believers put their trust. (Qur'an 9 : 51)

Alhamdulillah, our true faith on fate help us to stay with patience when things goes wrong.

Sometimes we are very careless and face loss.

Sometimes we are very careless and face loss. If we face loss as a result of my negligence, then you will never say that the loss was caused by my negligence. In fact, this loss through negligence was already written in my fate, that’s why it happened. We are all helpless in front of fate.

Sometimes even though we are very careful, but loss still occurs.

No matter how careful you are, if this loss is written in your destiny, it will surely happen because it is the decision of Allah.

When the decree of loss from Allah strikes a person so his eye sees but his mind becomes blind. The veil of destiny is placed on his Intellect and he loses all caution, no matter how careful we are, but we suffer great loss. Everything is destiny and surely we are all helpless in front of destiny.

Mujahid, Sa`id bin Jubayr and others narrated from Ibn `Abbas and others that the hoopoe was an expert who used to show Sulayman where water was if he was out in open land and needed water. The hoopoe would look for water for him in the various strata of the earth, just as a man looks at things on the surface of the earth, and he would know just how far below the surface the water was. When the hoopoe showed him where the water was, Sulayman would command the Jinn to dig in that place until they brought water from the depths of the earth. One day Sulayman went to some open land and checked on the birds, but he could not see the hoopoe.

(and (Sulayman) said: "What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe Or is he among the absentees'') One day `Abdullah bin `Abbas told a similar story, and among the people was a man from the Khawarij whose name was Nafi` bin Al-Azraq, who often used to raise objections to Ibn `Abbas. He said to him, "Stop, O Ibn `Abbas; you will be defeated (in argument) today!'' Ibn `Abbas said: "Why'' Nafi` said: "You are telling us that the hoopoe can see water beneath the ground, but any boy can put seed in a trap and cover the trap with dirt, and the hoopoe will come and take the seed, so the boy can catch him in the trap.'' Ibn `Abbas said, "If it was not for the fact that this man would go and tell others that he had defeated Ibn `Abbas in argument, I would not even answer.'' Then he said to Nafi`: "Woe to you! When the decree strikes a person, his eyes become blind and he loses all caution.'' Nafi` said: "By Allah I will never dispute with you concerning anything in the Qur'an. ''

...When something good befalls them, they say, “This is from Allah,” but when something evil befalls them, they say, “This is from you.” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Both have been destined by Allah.”... [Quran 4:78]

Nothing kills you faster than your own mind. Do not stress over things that are out of your control.

Those who have firm faith in fate will definitely live a happy and enjoyable life in this world and also have great success in the hereafter. And for those whose faith is weak, they will definitely have a painful life in this world and face severe punishment in the Hereafter.

Don't be depressed because of this loss.

Find some peace, sir. These kind of losses are often happening in life. Don't be depressed, this is part of life.

Real Loss

If any loss happens in this world, your heart have been hurt, but your salah [prayer] was missed today; your heart has not been hurt; this is the weakness of your faith.

Narrated Ibn `Umar: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever misses the `Asr prayer (intentionally) then it is as if he lost his family and property." [Sahih al-Bukhari 552]

This is the real loss. First, repair the damage of the hereafter, then worry about the loss of this world.

Compensation of loss

Whenever I suffer any worldly loss, I will certainly take revenge for this loss throgh praying two rakat sunnah of Fajr salah, because :

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains."

[Muslim]

Another narration goes: "The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are dearer to me than the whole world." [Riyad as-Salihin 1102]

If you get the feeling of the loss of your hereafter due to this worldly loss, then this worldly loss is beneficial for you.

I'm not worried about losing good things of this world; rather, I am happy for gaining the good things of the hereafter. Thank you, Allah, for the upset and disappointment that has turned my heart away from this world and toward Allah.
