Supplication is worship

An-Nu'man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Du'a (supplication) is worship." [Abu Dawud]. [Riyad as-Salihin 1465]

It was narrated from Nu'man bin Bashir that : the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "Indeed the supplication is the worship." Then he recited: "And your Lord said: Invoke Me, I will respond to you." [Sunan Ibn Majah 3828]

Narrated An-Nu'man ibn Bashir: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Supplication (du'a') is itself the worship. (He then recited:) "And your Lord said: Call on Me, I will answer you" (xI.60). [Sunan Abi Dawud 1479]

Supplication is an act of worship, It is the weapon of the believer and the only thing which can change bad situation and relieve stress. In shaa Allah

Allahu Akbar

Calling upon Allah alone in times of afflictions.

And your Lord said: Call to Me; I will respond to you… [Quran 40 : 60]

So Nooh called his Lord (saying), "I have been overcome. Send Your help!" (Quran 54:10)

And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allah] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood. (Qur’an 21 : 76)

And (remember) Ayyub (Job), when he called his Lord saying, “Here I am, afflicted by pain and You are the most merciful of all the merciful.” So, We answered his prayer and removed whatever pain he had, and gave him (back) his family and the like thereof along with them, as a mercy from Our own Self and as a lesson for the worshippers. (Qur’an 21 : 83 - 84)

When the two hosts came face to face, the companions of Moses cried out: "We are surely overtaken." Moses said: "Not at all! My Lord is with me; He will show me a way out." (Quran 26:61-62)

When there is no way, Allah SWT will make a way.

Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When (Prophet) Ibrahim (Abraham) was thrown into the fire, he said: "Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and, He is the Best Disposer of affairs."... [Riyad as-Salihin 76]

We ordered, “O fire! Be cool and safe for Abraham!” They had sought to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. [Quran 21 : 69 - 70]

And (remember) Zakariyya when he called his Lord, “My Lord, do not leave me alone and You are the best of inheritors.” So, We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife good for him. They used to race towards the good deeds and call Us with hope and fear; and they were humble to Us. (Qur’an 21 : 89 - 90)

...but in calling on You, My Lord, I have never been disappointed. [Qura 19:4]

And (remember) Dhunnun (the man of the fish, namely Yunus (A.S)), when he walked away in anger and thought that We would never put him to trouble. Then, he called (Us) in depths of darkness saying, “There is no god but You. Pure are You. Indeed I was among the wrongdoers”. So We responded to him and rescued him from the distress. And this is how We rescue the believers. (Qur’an 21 : 87 - 88)

O Allah rescue me from my hardships like you rescued Ibrahim AS from the fire, like you rescued Musa AS from firaun, like you rescued Yunus AS from the belly of the whale.

If Allah SWT can split the sea for Musa AS, If Allah SWT can can cool down fire for Ibrahim AS. If Allah SWT can rescued Yunus AS from the belly of the whale. Then the same Allah SWT who is your lord too can perform Miracle for your problems as well. If your belief is strong, the impossible may become possible, trust Him.

There are no sad endings for those who trust Allah.

Akhirat ki zindagi ko nishana banakar zindagi karenge to dunya ki badi si badi takleef bhi choti lagegi. Wahi agar dunya ki zindagi assal maqsad banakar zindagi karenge to choti si choti takleef bhi badi lagagi.

Other than Allah, you have neither a supporter, nor a helper.

No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. [Quran 53:58]

Say, "God [alone] can save you from this and from every distress and still you attribute divinity to others besides Him." [Quran 6:64]

...and, other than Allah, you have neither a supporter, nor a helper. (Qur’an 9 : 116)

O mankind! Here is an example for your understanding, so listen to it carefully. Those deities whom you call besides Allah, cannot create a single fly, even if they all combined their forces, rather, if a fly snatches away anything from them they cannot even get it back; how feebleminded are the suppliants and how powerless are those whom they supplicate. [Quran 22:73]

And those whom you invoke other than Allah, they can neither help themselves nor you. [Quran 7:197]

Jab insaan Allah SWT ko chodkar Ghairon ke peeche bhagta hai to Allah usse thaka deta hai.

Do not call on any besides God who can neither benefit you nor harm you. If you do it, you will be among the unjust. ( Quran 10 : 106 )

If Allah afflicts you with any hardship, none other than He can remove it; and if He wills any good for you, none can avert His bounty... ( Quran 10 : 107 )

A young man went to the Dargah and broke the door of the Dargah and took it away (to show misguidance). And when the custodians of this dargah came, they certainly did not find the door. So they said that no one can do this work except such and such a tawheedi. So the guardians went to him and said, "Why did you steal the door of our saint?" So the man said to the custodian that, I did not steal but the saint gave it to me. So the guardian said, he is dead, how can he give. So the person laughed and said that this is what I am trying to explain to you people, how can a dead person give anything!!

Invoking anything other than Allah is shirk.

Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said one statement and I said another. The Prophet (ﷺ) said "Whoever dies while still invoking anything other than Allah as a rival to Allah, will enter Hell (Fire)." And I said, "Whoever dies without invoking anything as a rival to Allah, will enter Paradise." [Sahih al-Bukhari 4497]

Surely Allah will never forgive the one who commits the sin of shirk... (Quran 4 : 116)

Supplication - Dua

When we are tested by a difficulty, often our first reaction is to turn to Allah for help. Ask help for each and everything only from Allah and tell Him about your sorrow and how you feel about this sorrow.

And your Lord said: Call to Me; I will respond to you… [Quran 40 : 60]

...I answer the invocation of the invoker when he invokes Me... [Quran 2:186]

I trust Allah because he never breaks his promises.

So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth (Quran 30:60)

...for my Lord is (always) near, ready to answer." [Quran 11:61]

Thabit Al-Bunani narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Let one of you ask his Lord for his every need, until he asks Him for salt, and asks Him for the strap of his sandal when it breaks.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3604j]

...When He decides a thing, He simply says to it, .Be. and it comes to be. (Quran 19:35)

Nothing is beyond Allah's ability; everything is within His grasp.

Method of Supplication

Supplication is more likely to be accepted when these manners are observed beforehand.

Step 1: Sincerity in the Supplication.

Sincerity in supplication means avoiding any kind of showing off in your supplication.

Step 2: Trust in Allah and have certainty that it will be answered.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Call upon Allah with certainty that He will answer you. Know that Allah will not answer the supplication of a heart that is unmindful and distracted.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3479].

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Allah said, 'I am to my slave as he thinks of Me, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him). [Sahih al-Bukhari 7505]

So supplicate Allah, putting exclusive faith in Him... [Quran 40 : 14]

Step 3: Praise Allah and send salat upon the Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

Humble yourself in front of Allah, Start by praising him, acknowledge your deficiencies and show your gratitude to him, then send salat upon the Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

`Amr bin Malik Al-Janbi narrated that he heard Fadalah bin `Ubaid saying: “The Prophet (ﷺ) heard a man supplicating in his Salat but he did not send Salat upon the Prophet (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘This one has rushed.’ Then he called him and said to him, or to someone other than him: ‘When one of you performs Salat, then let him begin by expressing gratitude to Allah and praising Him. Then, let him send Salat upon the Prophet (ﷺ), then let him supplicate after that, whatever he wishes.’” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3477]

Step 4: The supplication of Prophet Yunus AS

This supplication was recited by Hazrat Younus AS in the belly of the fish and Allah SWT accepted his supplication. And whoever recites this supplication before he makes his own supplication, Allah will accept his supplication. In shaa Allah

Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Sa`d narrated from his father, from Sa`d that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was: ‘There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors. (Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn)’ So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3505]

Step 5: Now make your supplications:

Ask Allah like you’re having a conversation with Him and tell Him about your sorrow and how you feel about this sorrow.

Ya Allah it's me again, the condition is getting worse day by day. Ya Allah please please help me. Ya Allah I know you're watching me crying, you aren't unaware of my pain, only you know my sadness, my darkness, my loneliness and longingness, only you can save me from it, O Allah, there is no one but You for me; do not leave me alone. I will wait for your help. Ya rabbi open for us the doors of your mercy and I hope you will soon give me relief from this pain and I hope soon It’ll be alright by the grace of Allah SWT.

Believe in miracles when making supplications. Allah is the owner of all conditions and nothing is beyond His ability. May Almighty Allah heal everything that's you're suffering.

Now, rest your mind in peace. You've done your part; you've prayed and cried. Have patience, your supplication is now in the hand of Allah SWT. In shaa Allah, He'll accept your supplication.

To be noted :

If Allah SWT answers your supplication, He is increasing your faith. If he delay or does not answer your supplication, then he is testing you.

Ibn al-Jawzi (rh) said. “I think part of the test is when a believer supplicates and receives no response, and he repeats the supplication for a long time and sees no sign of a response. He should realise that this is a TEST and needs patience.”

At times of adversity, have patience. It is not easy, but it is definitely beneficial, sure Allah SWT will reward you for your patience.

Reward of Patience - Paradise

Asked Allah by His Greatest Name

Allah has the most excellent names (over ninety-nine attributes); call on Him by them... [Quran 7 : 180]

Ya Allah, Ya Rabbi, Ar Rahmaan, Ar Raheem, Al Malik, Al Sami, Al Mujeeb, Ash-Shaafee, Al Momin.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Buraidah that his father said: "The Prophet (saas) heard a man say: 'Allahumma! Inni as'aluka bi-annaka Antallahul-Ahadus-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yuwlud, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad (O Allah! I ask You by virtue of Your being Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable to Him).' The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'He has asked Allah by His Greatest Name, which if He is asked thereby He gives, and if He is called upon thereby He answers.'" [Sunan Ibn Majah 3857]

`Abdullah bin Buraidah Al Aslami narrated from his father, who said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) heard a man supplicating, and he was saying: ‘O Allah, indeed, I ask you by my testifying that You are Allah, there is none worthy of worship except You, the One, As-Samad, the one who does not beget, nor was begotten, and there is none who is like Him (Allāhumma innī as’aluka bi annī ashhadu annaka antallāh, lā ilāha illā ant, al-aḥaduṣ-ṣamad, alladhī lam yalid wa lam yūlad, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad). ” He said: “So he said: ‘By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by His Greatest Name, the one which if He is called upon by it, He responds, and when He is asked by it, He gives.’”(One of the narrators) Zaid said: “So I mentioned it to Zuhair bin Mu`awiyah years after that, and he said: Abu Ishaq reported to me from Malik bin Mighwal.’” Zaid said: “Then I mentioned it to Sufyan, so he reported it to me from Malik.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3475]

Best times to make Supplication

Anas bin Malik narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: "The supplication made between the Adhan and Iqamah is not rejected." [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 212]

Supplication in Prostration

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication (in this state). [Sahih Muslim 482]

Include your brothers and sisters in your supplication

Abu Dharr reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: There is no believing servant who supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence) that the Angels do not say: The same be for you too. [Sahih Muslim 2732a]

Why Allah SWT doesn't answer our supplication ?

A few reasons that your supplication may be rejected by Allah

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that : the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "It is necessary that you do not become hasty." It was said: "What does being hasty mean, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "When one says: 'I supplicated to Allah but Allah did not answer me.'" [Sunan Ibn Majah 3853]

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The invocation of anyone of you is granted (by Allah) if he does not show impatience (by saying, "I invoked Allah but my request has not been granted.") [Sahih al-Bukhari 6340]

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: O people, Allah is Good and He therefore, accepts only that which is good. And Allah commanded the believers as He commanded the Messengers by saying: "O Messengers, eat of the good things, and do good deeds; verily I am aware of what you do" (xxiii. 51). And He said: "O those who believe, eat of the good things that We gave you" (ii. 172). He then made a mention of a person who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord," whereas his diet is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful. How can then his supplication be accepted? [Sahih Muslim 1015]

Be patience

Be patient, when Allah makes you wait, be prepared to receive the best.

If Allah is making you wait, then be prepared to receive more than what you ask for. Is it in the Quran?

Under construction

O Allah not make us one of those people...

Whenever someone is touched by hardship, they cry out to Us, whether lying on their side, sitting, or standing. But when We relieve their hardship, they return to their old ways as if they had never cried to Us to remove any hardship… [Quran 10 : 12]

Aye Allah hamein in logon mein se na bana jo musibat ke waqt aap se dua karen aur jab musibat door hojaye to aap se moo pherlen. Khushi ho ya musibat har haal mein aap ki raza dekhen, hamein aisa insaan bana Allah.
